Drum Lessons
Drum lessons are not held at 5 Belle Vue Crescent as are all other instrumental lessons, for obvious reasons. The venue for drum lessons is St George's Church, Ashbrooke, Stockton Road, Sunderland. This allows unrestricted sessions without disturbing other students .
Students are individually taught by Oliver Terry, our experienced and highly qualified drum teacher.
A top of the range Pearl elx 5-piece kit is provided for all lessons, so students never have to transport their own kit to the lesson venue.
About Oliver Terry
At the age of twenty two, Oliver had completed his Guildhall Grade 8 and passed with merit, a Higher National Diploma in drums / music at Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
He has built a good reputation in the Newcastle and Sunderland area where he is involved in session work and plays for a very successfully band called The Flytes, who have toured France, America, and the UK. The Flytes have played with Gomez, The Bluetones and have sold out Stage 2 of the Newcastle O2 Academy.
With the skills and experience he has gained, he has a very high pass rate for students taking Trinity Guildhall qualifications. This has lead to many students going on to be successful musicians and achieving good music GCSE grades, diplomas or degrees.
Many of his students have progressed into music teaching in schools, session work and full time work on cruise ships as drummers.
Drum lessons can be for pleasure or can lead to qualifications, if that is the student's desire, which cover Trinity Guildhall Grades 1–8, technical development, session styles, sight reading, music theory and transcribing.
