Associated Music Teachers is an extremely popular music teaching establishment providing tuition in several instruments for those who simply want to learn for their own enjoyment or for those who wish to take music qualifications.
Booking Lessons:
Lessons are booked through the Senior Administrator (Contact details above).
Deposit:
Once a lesson booking has been agreed a deposit of £26 is to be paid at least 3 days prior to the first lesson. The deposit is refunded when students decide that they no longer wish to continue with the lessons (unless there has been a lesson payment default or a termination of lessons without adequate notice. See ‘Cancellations’ below). The deposit must be paid in full (by cheque, made payable to ‘A C Stuart’, or cash at the address above).
Cost of Lessons:
Lesson fees are £13 for a half hour lesson with one to one tuition and is payable directly to the teacher at the beginning of each lesson, including the first one (cash or by cheque). Theory lessons are £8 for a sixty minute group session (Individual Theory Lessons can be arranged at the full cost of £13).
Cancellations:
Whilst we acknowledge that there may be genuine reasons why a student may wish to cancel a lesson, we nevertheless require a minimum notice of 48 hours. Should the cancellation be made without this required notice the cancelled lesson must be paid for at the following lesson, along with the payment for that lesson (£26 in total).
Should payment not be made at the following lesson (a payment default), the outstanding payment of £13 will be taken from the deposit. Where payment has to be taken from the deposit on two occasions (£26 in total), future lessons can only continue when a further deposit of £26 has been made.
There is no charge for cancellations made with notice of 48 hours or more and it may be possible for us to rearrange the lesson at an alternative time.
Lengthy Cancellations:
Where a student cancels consecutive lessons for a period of more than two weeks (usually due to a lengthy holiday) a retainer fee of £3.50 is required for every week after the first two. This ensures that the ‘tuition slot’ remains available on the student’s return to lessons.
Cancellations should be made by contacting the Senior Administrator either at the telephone number or email address above.
Lesson Termination:
Where a student wishes to permanently terminate lessons, notice of two weeks is required and the £26 deposit is returned. Should a student terminate lessons without the appropriate two weeks notice then the deposit is non-returnable.
Where a student has repeated cancellations and, in the opinion of the teacher, is failing to make adequate progress, this may result in the termination of the contract and the ‘tuition slot’ being allocated to a student who can ensure regular attendance.
Instruments:
It is essential that students have their own instruments on which to regularly practise.
Acceptance:
Booking lessons is an acceptance of the above Terms and Conditions of Associated Music Teachers.
Enrolling for Lessons with Associated Music Teachers
How do I make Initial Contact?
Individual teachers do not enrol new students. Initial contact should be made through the Senior Administrator, Jim Farnie, either by phone, text or email (a direct link email proforma is available on this website's Contact us page).
What Information is required?
It is most helpful if the Senior Administrator receives the following information:
The name of the student.
Contact telephone number or email address.
Whether the student is a Junior (under the age of 16) or an adult.
Which instrument is to be studied.
Whether the student is a complete beginner or has previous experience.
The most convenient days and times for lessons to take place.
When lessons are to begin.
What happens next?
The Senior Administrator, as soon as is possible, will inform the student (or parent of the student) as to the availability of lessons that meet the requirements of the student.
The student will receive, usually by email, a copy of the Terms and Conditions, which should be agreed before completing a booking.
Should the student wish to proceed with booking lessons, the Senior Administrator will provisionally enrol the student with Associated Music Teachers on the agreed day and time.
The student is required to pay a deposit at least three days prior to the first lesson (see Terms and Conditions). This guarantees the booking as permanent.
On the day of the lesson it is not necessary to arrive at 5 Belle Vue Crescent any sooner than a few minutes prior to the lesson.
Each teacher has their own teaching room. At the front door are a series of bells. Students are informed of the bell number that alerts their teacher that they have arrived for the lesson.
To ensure the safety of our students, of young children in particular, the front door is never left open.
Payment for the lesson should be made directly to the teacher (by cheque, made payable to 'A C Stuart', or by cash) before the commencement of the lesson.
Students remain on the roll of Associated Music teachers until they decide that they wish to cease lessons and have given the appropriate notice.
